Djokovic loses his cool at Tokyo Olympics Number-1 Tennis Player lost the Bronze Medal Match

World number-1 tennis player Novak Djokovic’s dream of winning the Golden Slam remained unfulfilled. After this he also lost the match for the bronze medal. Now he will return to his country Serbia empty handed from Tokyo. Djokovic has won only one medal in the Olympics. He won the bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Djokovic lost his cool several times in Saturday’s bronze medal match against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta. Sometimes he threw the racket into the stand, and sometimes threw the racket over the net. Due to this his tennis racket also broke. Djokovic had to suffer 3 defeats within 24 hours. On Friday, he lost to Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the men’s singles semi-finals. After this, he also faced defeat in the semi-finals of mixed doubles.

Pablo Busta defeated
Djokovic 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 in the bronze medal match. Djokovic had a chance to win gold in all four Grand Slams and Olympics in the same year. Doing so is called a Golden Slam. Steffi Graf is the only tennis player to achieve this feat.

Steffi did this in 1988. None of the men won the Golden Slam. Although Rafael Nadal and Andre Agassi have won gold at the Australia Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open as well as Olympic gold, it was not within a year.

Djokovic and Nina were scheduled to take on Australia’s mixed doubles pair of Ashleigh Barty and John Peers in a bronze medal match on Saturday after their mixed doubles loss, but withdrew citing a left shoulder injury. In this way the mixed doubles bronze medal went to the Australian pair.
