Deepika Archery in the Quarterfinals; Next match with South Korea’s An Sen

Deepik Kumari has reached the quarterfinals of Archery. She defeated Ksenia Perova of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) 6-5 in a shootout in the pre-quarterfinals. She will face An Sen of South Korea in the quarterfinals. The quarter-final match is today at 11 am.

Deepika won the first set 27-25 over Senia, while Senia won the second set 27-26. In the third set, Senia won 28-27. After this, Senia came back in the fourth set and leveled 26-26. After this won the fifth set 28-25. The match went to a shootout. In this, Deepika took 10 points, while Senia could take only 8 points.

The same, today Lovlina Borgohain in Boxing, PV Sindhu in Badminton will present the challenge. Lovlina and Sindhu have to play the quarter final match. If Lovlina wins the bout, she will become only the second Indian woman boxer after MC Mary Kom to secure an Olympic medal. Sindhu faces a tough challenge from Akane Yamaguchi of Japan.

Shooting – Rapid rapid round of qualification for 25m sports pistol has started. There is a lot of hope for India’s Rahi Sarnobat and Manu Bhaker. Manu was fifth in the precision round of qualification on Thursday. If she continues to perform well in the rapid round, she can qualify for the medal round.
