Wrestler Bajrang Punia Wins Bronze Medal

Wrestler Bajrang Punia won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Bajrang gave a strong performance in the bronze medal match defeating Daulat Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan 8-0. The special thing is that Bajrang did not allow the opposition to score even 1 point in the entire match. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Bajrang on a phone call and praised his game.

PM Modi spoke to Bajrang after the match and congratulated him for winning the medal. PM Modi also appreciated Bajrang’s hard work and his passion, on the basis of which he was able to win a medal in the Olympics.

Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya won medals in wrestling in Tokyo. Ravi Dahiya got silver. Earlier in 2012 also got two medals in wrestling. Then Sushil Kumar won silver while Yogeshwar Dutt won bronze medal. In the London Olympics, shooter Vijay Kumar won silver, badminton player Saina Nehwal bronze, shooter Gagan Narang won bronze and female boxer MC Mary Kom also won bronze.

Bajrang’s bronze medal from Jhajjar, Haryana is India’s sixth medal in the Tokyo Olympics. This is India’s best ever performance in the Olympics in terms of number of medals. Earlier, India had got 6 medals in the 2012 London Olympics, then 2 silver and 4 bronze medals were won by the players. This time too 2 silver and 4 bronze medals have been received so far.
